Holland Festival

The famous Holland Festival, with its commitment to progressive and innovative programming, is hosting a tribute to the greatest Arab singer of all time, Oum Kalthoum, in a production of the Beiteddine Festival of Lebanon. It is with great pride that the Beiteddine Festival embarks on this cross-cultural encounter with the Holland Festival in bringing the best of classical Arabic music to a new audience. Our very special thanks go to Pierre Audi and the Holland Festival for this window of opportunity that will undoubtedly develop in the best interest of both cultures. Holland Festival is the ultimate venue for an encounter between different musical genres that have been inspired by the same sources. For a long time it has been my dream to participate in one of Europe's most important festivals, presenting Norwegian folk music alongside works by J.S. Bach. (HF 2010, Maria's Song)

De opening van het Holland Festival 2006 met mijn opera 'After Life' was een beslissend moment in mijn carriere. Fantastisch dat Pierre Audi jonge makers dit soort kansen geeft!

Toen ik nog in Brussel woonde was het Holland Festival één van de redenen om naar Amsterdam te komen. Nu ik er zelf woon, is de waardevolle en internationale kunst alleen nog maar dichter bij.

Natürlich ist das Holland Festival eines der besten und bedeutendsten Festivals der Welt! Schaut man sich einmal die Liste der Dirigenten, Regisseure, Sänger, Schauspieler, Choreographen an, die in den letzten Jahren dort gearbeitet haben, dann wird man alle bedeutenden Namen aus Musik, Oper, Tanz, Schauspiel finden! Wir wünschen unseren Kollegen beim Holland Festival, mit Pierre Audi an der Spitze, weiterhin einen großen Erfolg!

Wandering through the program of this festival it feels as an honor being asked to push new flemish music into the spotlights at this fabulous stage. It felt logical to play also the monumental Shiraz composition by Claude Vivier: its fierce, optimistic believe in the universality of differing cultures by trying to show next to eachother the benefits of it, that seems to me also what this festival is aiming for. Het is als een vast rendez-vous met iemand die je al jaren kent. Je gaat je eigen weg maar keert telkens terug. Het Holland Festival inspireert Nederlandse en andere kunstenaars om buiten de grenzen te denken. En het publiek reist met hen mee. Het is een van de belangrijkste evenementen van het Culturele Jaar.

Depuis de longues années, nous avons établi avec le Holland Festival tout comme avec les Wienerfestwochen ou le Lincoln Center Festival de New York par exemple un mode de collaboration qui repose sur la confiance dans le partage de points de vues qui concernent les choix artistiques tout comme leurs financements. Peu d’institutions dans le monde sont ainsi engagées pour défendre ensemble la création dans toutes les disciplines, les plus anciennes et reconnues, tout comme celles qui s’inventent de nos jours avec les nouvelles technologies. Le passage par le Holland Festival est pour les créateurs, artistes, compagnies, un point de rencontre avec un public dont la finesse de jugement et l’enthousiasme sont reconnus. Le succès à Amsterdam en juin laisse augurer de succès prometteurs sur la route des festivals d’été qui suivent à Aix-en-Provence, Salzburg ou Edinbourg. J’espère que nos festivals pour suivront longtemps leur coopération et mesure avec plaisir la force des liens d’amitié qui se sont établis entre nous au fil des années.

Het Holland Festival kan zich meten aan grote internationale podiumkunstenfestivals. Het festival trekt een breed publiek van bezoekers, media en internationale makers en biedt een plek aan vernieuwende podiumkunst. Er is ruimte voor gevestigde makers, maar ook voor jonge talenten. Dat maakt het Holland Festival tot een van de meest prestigieuze Nederlandse festivals en tot een internationale topper.
