Seven weeks - Nobuhiko Obayashi (2014)
In the village of Ashibetsu, situated in Japan’s far north, a family comes together to reminisce and organise the funeral of Mitsuo Suzuki, their grandfather. From out of nowhere, an unidentified woman named Nobuko turns up and reveals a family secret that was buried deep. Director Nobuhiko Obayashi described the film as ‘the Guernica of motion picture.' He shows complex family relationships that symbolise Japan’s relationship with its past.
