Annet Lekkerkerker appointed Member of Executive Board of Amsterdam University of the Arts
Annet Lekkerkerker has been appointed a Member of the Executive Board of the Amsterdam University of the Arts (Amsterdamse Hogeschool voor de Kunsten, AHK). This means that Annet Lekkerkerker will leave the Holland Festival after the 2019 festival.
After ten editions and almost ten years, Annet Lekkerkerker will be leaving the festival. She started in the autumn of 2009 as the managing director, working with artistic director Pierre Audi. From 2014 to 2018 she worked in tandem with Audi's successor Ruth Mackenzie. Lekkerkerker has been the Holland Festival's general director since 2018, with final managerial and artistic responsibility for the festival.
Martijn Sanders, chairman of the Supervisory Board, says of Annet Lekkerkerker's appointment at the Amsterdam University of the Arts: ‘The Board of Trustees is very sorry Annet Lekkerkerker is leaving, but understands and respects her desire to continue working on her career after ten years. Annet has made the festival flourish over the past ten years, both on a managerial and an artistic level. With Pierre Audi, Ruth Mackenzie and the team, she has developed the Holland Festival into one of the most important performing arts festivals in Europe.’
Annet Lekkerkerker: ‘After almost ten fantastic years at the most wonderful festival in the Netherlands I am going to broaden my horizons. I have worked with great pleasure, conviction and energy for the Holland Festival. The festival is in good shape; it is artistically vibrant, financially sound and my successor will inherit a great team.
After the 2019 edition I am going to work for the Amsterdam University of the Arts. Excellent art education is the foundation of an appealing and flourishing artistic and cultural life. I look forward to contributing to this in my new role.’
