Asko|Schönberg

Profile

Asko|Schönberg is a trend-setting ensemble for new music in the Netherlands. Its principal cornerstones are quality, experimentation and an innovative programming with concern for current affairs. With its broad network of musicians, conductors, composers, versatile young makers and partners from various art disciplines, Asko|Schönberg plays an important part in ‘today’s making’. Together with innovative and energetic partners, the ensemble serves as an accessible platform that furthers the ongoing development of contemporary music composition in all its different forms. From its home base in Amsterdam, the ensemble operates throughout the world. Both the world-class oeuvre of the great 20th century composers and the very latest 21st century work are performed on concert stages, festivals and in interdisciplinary productions. Asko|Schönberg makes interdisciplinary theatre under the name NITE, a collaboration with Noord Nederlands Toneel, Slagwerk Den Haag and Club Guy & Roni. Asko|Schönberg is ensemble in residence at Muziekgebouw and has regularly featured at the Holland Festival since 1974.
