Welcome to the Holland Festival archive! The history of our festival dates back to 1947. Through the programs of each festival edition we aim to tell this history here. Sadly some information is only available in Dutch but we aim to be as bilingual as possible. For additions or tips send an email to [email protected].

We recognise that language and its meanings change over time, and that historical context matters. We chose to show the archive in the way it has been archived, including title’s, words and discriptions that we would never use today. We have not altered them, but acknowledge the fact that this might trigger feelings of exclusion, sterotyping and discrimination. We provide space to address and contextualize this, both online and offline during the Holland Festival. At the same time, we continuously grow our own understanding and critically assess the language with which we speak about performing arts today as we are aware that this shapes the archival material of the future.
