An inspiring fashion talk, presented in collaboration with the Amsterdam Museum, surrounding Caroline Guiela Nguyen’s performance LACRIMA. Moderator Babette Kolff will be joined by director Caroline Guiela Nguyen, designer Tess van Zalinge, and Roberto Luis Martins (Curator of Fashion and Popular Culture at the Amsterdam Museum) for a conversation about craftsmanship, visibility, fashion, and the hidden labour behind haute couture.
The talk is closely connected to LACRIMA, Caroline Guiela Nguyen’s production at Meervaart, which centres on the hands behind the making of a royal wedding dress. Like the performance itself, Van Zalinge’s work offers a glimpse behind the scenes of couture.
About Tess van Zalinge
Van Zalinge is known for her handmade, sustainable couture, created in her Amsterdam atelier using found and repurposed materials. Her work exists at the intersection of fashion and performance, and includes collaborations with opera and ballet companies. In 2026, her label celebrates its tenth anniversary.
