Black Cadmium

Black Cadmium is the solo project of Rotterdam-based artist Joe Macnack, a well-known name in the Dutch underground scene. Inspired by Black rave culture and Rotterdam’s club history, he blends house, techno, UK bass, breaks and Afro-influenced rhythms into an energetic sound that can be both raw and spiritual. His sets move between deep grooves, futuristic energy and emotional intensity, with influences from both the UK underground and Detroit’s electronic legacy.

Known for his powerful and versatile style, Black Cadmium draws on techno from the 1990s and early 2000s while giving it a contemporary edge. His sets flow easily between UK garage, percussive techno, rave energy and more experimental electronic sounds.

He has performed at festivals such as Lowlands, HORST Arts & Music, DRIFT, Wildeburg and Down The Rabbit Hole, and in clubs including Panorama Bar in Berlin and EXPORT in Rotterdam. After years as part of a duo, Black Cadmium now performs solo with a clear artistic direction and a distinct sound.
