Floor Houwink ten Cate

Profile

Director and writer Floor Houwink ten Cate (1987) makes urgent pieces at the intersection of musical theatre, opera and film, based on personal questions of conscience. In her visual and physical portraits, she celebrates life’s discomfort and pain by reducing major moral dilemmas to human proportions and by inflating overlooked problems to operatic proportions.

After her studies, she became a Newcomer at Orkater, assistant director at Boogaerdt/VanderSchoot and end director of Permanent Destruction (Naomi Velissariou & Joost Maaskant). Between 2015 and 2020 she was co-artistic director of the collective Nineties Productions. She is now a regular maker at Frascati Productions.
