Iris van Herpen

Iris van Herpen (Wamel, 1984) is a fashion designer with her own label (also named Iris van Herpen) since 2007. Her designs merge the worlds of fashion, nature, art, and science. Van Herpen combines innovative techniques with traditional couture craftsmanship, resulting in sensual creations that capture the complexity and diversity of the natural world and are often regarded as works of art.

Her work is celebrated globally for its unique materials (such as steel, silk, and resin), futuristic shapes, and innovative techniques (including 3D printing). Van Herpens designs have bene worn by global stars such as Beyoncé, Lady Gaga, Katy Perry en Björk.

In 2011, her 3D-printed dress was named one of the fifty best inventions of the year by TIME Magazine. That same year, Van Herpen joined the prestigious Chambre Syndicale de la Haute Couture. Since 2013, Iris van Herpen has been a member of the renowned Fédération de la Haute Couture.
