John Hollenbeck (US, 1968) is an acclaimed composer, drummer and bandleader known for his inventive work across jazz, contemporary and improvised music. As leader of the John Hollenbeck Large Ensemble and through collaborations with artists such as Theo Bleckmann and Jill Sings Marilyn, his music blends complex rhythms, rich arrangements and lyrical storytelling, bringing influences from jazz, world music, and contemporary compositions. A respected educator and performer, he has taught at institutions including the Berklee School of Music and McGill. His compositions have been featured internationally and earned him multiple recognitions, including 6 GRAMMY nominations.
