Kohei Nawa

Kohei Nawa (1975, Japan) is a multidisciplinary artist who lives and works between Kyoto and Tokyo. His practice explores the perception of physical and virtual space and the relationships between nature and artificiality, individual and collective form.

A professor at the Kyoto University of the Arts, he also founded Sandwich, a creative platform for experimental, cross-disciplinary projects spanning installation, architecture, design, and scenography. His work is held in major international museum collections. A long-time collaborator of Damien Jalet, together they created the stage works Vessel (2017) and Planet [wanderer] (2021) before reuniting in 2026 for Mirage.
