Hartwig Proxy

Hartwig Proxy is a temporary cultural space and testing ground in Amsterdam, envisioned as a meeting place for the neighbourhood and the city ahead of the Hartwig Museum. It offers room for experimentation, exchange and public programmes, inviting visitors to gather, engage in dialogue and explore new ideas together.

  • The path is level. The minimum clearance height on the route is 230 cm.


    The route to the wheelchair-friendly toilet is very wide and has no narrowings (at least 120 cm wide). There is a dead-end route. There is limited space to turn with a wheelchair or walker, namely ∅ 147 cm.

    The entrance door to the wheelchair-friendly toilet is manual. The door has a clear passage width of at least 85 cm and is wide enough for a wheelchair or walker, namely 87 cm wide. The door handle is at an easily operable height, namely 90-120 cm. The door opens with little force (maximum 2 kg).


    The toilet can be used free of charge (without payment). The door opens outwards. The toilet is in working order and is not used as storage space. The wheelchair-friendly toilet looks hygienic. There is a free turning circle of 141 cm at foot level. Armrests are placed on both sides of the toilet bowl. The armrest(s) are at the correct height (70-80 cm). The toilet roll is within easy reach. The washbasin is wheelchair accessible (70 cm) and has an easy-to-operate tap (push button, automatic or elbow tap). The mirror is visible from a wheelchair (minimum height 100 cm). There is a waste bin. It is a pedal bin.

  • Assistance/guide dogs with a recognisable harness are permitted everywhere.
