Maaike van der Linde

Profile

Maaike van der Linde is a multidisciplinary artist, musician, and workshop facilitator whose work focuses on listening, ecology, and community-based practices. She is founder of Stichting Eco-Acoustics, an artist-led platform exploring sound as a tool for connection between humans and the more-than-human world. Trained as a flutist, she holds a Master of Music in Leadership from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London, where her graduation project explored eco-acoustics through the love songs of fruit flies.

 

Maaike’s artistic practice combines composition, participatory projects, and socially engaged music-making. She is the artistic director of Art Root Collective, developing music participation programs for young musicians with refugee backgrounds, and she facilitates weekly music sessions for women in a refugee centre in Amsterdam. Maaike plays music in health care settings, such as hospitals and care homes. As a flutist in European chamber orchestra S T A R G A Z E she performed and toured worldwide, performing and creating new music and collaborating with musicians from diverse musical backgrounds.
