Sam Slater (UK, 1984) is a British composer, sound designer, and record producer whose work spans classical composition, experimental electronic music, and on-screen scoring. After studying experimental composition in Leeds, he moved to Berlin in 2013 to work with Jóhann Jóhannsson as his main sound designer and creative engineer. He gained international recognition for his collaborations with Hildur Guðnadóttir, earning two Grammy Awards for their work on the film Joker and the television series Chernobyl.
In addition to his collaborative projects, Slater develops his own work, exploring immersive soundscapes and experimental compositions, recently premiering his score for the documentary 2000 Meters to Andriivka at Sundance in 2025.
