Spellotics – Holland Festival

Brazilian artist Flavio Orzari’s Spellotics has people come together to discuss political dilemmas. Orzari invites the audience to suggest magical transformations for political oppressions with him, not in a dry debate, but by telling stories and through practices for the imagination.

In groups of no more than three, visitors are invited into the installation to take part in a short meditation and writing ceremony. This ritual sees the imagination activated in order to generate energy, like with a magical spell. The installation is part of ongoing research in which Orzari raises questions about the socio-political scars that exist in society throughout the world.

All material created with the participants will be part of a collection that storyteller Orzari can draw on for future tales.
