Stream: What's Your Heaven

CocoRosie

On 23 and 24 June, CocoRosie performed the concert What's Your Heaven in Het Muziekgebouw. For those who could not be there then, or would like to see this special performance again, it is now possible to watch the concert online (video on demand). The stream will be available from Thursday 29 June 20:00 until Sunday 2 July 23:59.

Bianca and Sierra Casady, known as CocoRosie, blend a myriad of styles and references, from hip hop to folk and opera, shaping the most painful of experiences into memorable, evocative pop songs. The sisters are the founders of the Future Feminism collective, together with associate artist ANOHNI, Kembra Pfahler and Johanna Constantine.

With What's Your Heaven, CocoRosie gives a glimpse into their freshly emergent musical realms where electronics and string instruments form their chamber orchestra playing unheard and familiar material. They will present new songs that confront the challenging depths of modern reality, asking questions about the human condition, our destiny and the repetition of history.

Weary of the trend to disavow the sacred in the natural cycles of life and death, they sing:

“What have we become?

Do you want to live forever?

What’s your heaven?

What is sacred?

Is earth a lost paradise?

How do we get back?

How do we get back to the garden again."

CocoRosie: ‘It took many years for us to be seen as adults, even though we were in our early twenties when we started. We were put into this weird box of being seen like little girls playing dress up, which was tiresome. Thankfully, a lot has happened in the last fifteen years in terms of awareness around female artists and queer artists with differing points of view. It feels good to talk about these things. It feels good to be a part of that’.
