Koninklijk Theater Carré

Accessibility

  • Please note: The seating arrangement may be different due to modified guidelines.

Royal Theatre Carré has three wheelchair spaces. Are you coming together with someone else? Then one or two seats are available next to the wheelchair spaces.

Please contact the Holland Festival box office before purchasing tickets.

Rollator: It is possible to enter the auditorium with a rollator. We ask you to contact the Holland Festival box office before buying tickets. Before the performance, the rollator will be placed outside the auditorium by a member of staff. After the performance, it will be returned to your seat.

Mobility scooters: We ask you to contact the Holland Festival Box Office before purchasing tickets. If you come to the theatre with a mobility scooter, you may be able to use a loaner rollator or wheelchair to get to your seat in the auditorium. When the performance ends, a staff member will bring the loaner rollator or wheelchair back to your seat so you can return to your mobility scooter. During the performance, we will park the mobility scooter near the theatre hall. It is not possible to enter the auditorium with a mobility scooter.

  • Royal Theatre Carré has a loop system. On the evening of the performance you can pick up the loop at our cloakroom on the ground floor. We ask a € 10 deposit for this. We have a loop with simple headphones and a loop you can connect to your own hearing aid via minijack. You can then also bring your own headphones which you can connect to the transmitter of the loop using this minijack.

  • In Carré, you will find two adapted toilets on the ground floor. These are marked with the wheelchair symbol. Check our accessibility map for the exact location. The adapted toilets are spacious and equipped with brackets next to the toilet and an adapted sink. Furthermore, the toilets are equipped with an alarm system. Our toilets comply with KTG's seal of approval and the standards of Integral Accessibility Standards (ITs 2018).

  • If you would like to come to Carré by your own transport, you can choose from several options, namely:

Custom parking (Nieuwe Prinsengracht opposite house numbers 2 and 4)

    +/- 80 m from Carré, a 2-minute walk away.

If you hold a disabled parking card, you may park in one of these two spaces around the corner from the theatre. The parking spaces can be reached by car from Sarphatistraat. Once you have parked your car, you can walk towards the theatre via the pavement behind the car. This route is obstacle-free.

Be careful when getting in and out, as the adapted parking spaces are situated right after a curve.

The dimensions of the parking spaces are 310 cm by 500 cm and 255 cm by 500 cm, respectively.

Q-Park Centrum Oost (Wibautstraat 3B, 1091 GH Amsterdam)

    +/- 800 m from Carré, a 10-minute walk away.

In cooperation with Q-Park, Carré offers the possibility to reserve a parking space. You can order a parking ticket for Q-Park Centrum Oost via Q-Park. Click here to be redirected to the website to order a parking ticket.

Q-Park Centrum Oost has five adapted parking spaces on the first level of the garage. These are marked on the floor of the garage.

It is also possible to first drop off visitors at the main entrance of Carré (Amstel 115-125, 1018 EM Amsterdam) and then park the car at the car park.

  • Assistance dogs with a harness, such as guide dogs for the blind, are welcome in the theatre. We ask you to contact the Holland Festival box office before buying tickets.

  • Hidden Disabilities Sunflower Project

We support this project in which the wearer of the key cord can discreetly point out that they need extra support, help or a bit more time.

  • As a theatre, we believe it is important to offer you personal service. It can sometimes be very busy in Carré and it is sometimes difficult to navigate our historic building. That is why we are happy to guide you during your visit. Of course, if you prefer to go through the theatre on your own, this is also possible. The accessibility map is available at the box office. If you would like to use extra assistance during your visit, please contact 020524 9444 for assistance when you are already in the building; for example, when going to the theatre auditorium or when using the lift to the Grand Café.

If you would like to use an assistive device such as a walker, wheelchair or loop, for example, please ask at the box office and information desk or a member of staff. If you would like to reserve them in advance of your visit, please send an email to [email protected].
