During the 77th edition we will present the latest in the field of international performing arts at 22 different locations throughout Amsterdam. Besides performances in all genres and disciplines, meetings with makers, conversations, podcasts, workshops, films, events and performances short and long all make the programme one-of-a-kind.
This year gives us the pleasure of working together with associate artist Christiane Jatahy. She will present her latest work Hamlet - In the Folds of Time and take us into her ‘universe’, in which her home country plays an important part. Most of this festival’s burning themes have to do with the world of today: migration, identity, inequality. What is my home? Where do I feel at home? And how does the past continue to influence the present?
This festival’s makers each bring their own story, form and perspective: from 11.000 Saiten’s fifty pianos in the Gashouder to Victor Pilon’s sustained performance in Sisyphe. We will be taken into the challenging world of aid work by Tiago Rodrigues, swept away by Brazilian legend Arturo Verocai’s sounds, and the well-known Forced Entertainment collective will make its festival debut. Let yourself be inspired by artist talks, relax in the Living Room, come dance during the night programme and celebrate the arts that move us, inspire reflection and bring us together.
We look forward to seeing you in June, when the sun is shining and the Holland Festival flags fly throughout the city!
