Discover what happens when you listen through meditation and bodily awareness. The Deep Listening workshop takes place prior to the performance Where to From, in which associate artist Hildur Guðnadóttir performs and sings her new album. The session is guided by multidisciplinary artists Maaike van der Linde and Dario Calderone, who approach listening as an artistic, social, and ecological practice.
During Deep Listening, you explore attention and listening through simple exercises. You learn to attune body and mind to your surroundings, connecting external sounds with breath, sensations, and thoughts. Recalled or imagined sounds are also welcome, allowing past, present, and future to come together in a single experience.
Listening lies at the heart of Hildur Guðnadóttir’s music. In Where to From, she treats sound as a continuum of space and time. Drawing on personal notes, she traces different moments within this continuum and uses these observations as inspiration for her compositions. Sound becomes a way to experience memory, presence, and anticipation simultaneously. Her approach connects to Deep Listening, developed by the American composer Pauline Oliveros.
