FEM(with)ME is a three-hour workshop that places femininity at its center. Developed with and for LGBTQIA+ and BIPOC communities, it is open to everyone. The workshop is led by Black Pearl de Almeida Lima – an interdisciplinary artist known for her work as a dancer, choreographer, teacher, filmmaker, and model.
She has worked with renowned companies such as Gauthier Dance Company and Richard Siegal / Ballet of Difference, performing in works by choreographers including Ohad Naharin and Hofesh Shechter. Within the ballroom scene, Black Pearl currently walks as 007 in both the Mainstream (Major) and Kiki scenes, presenting the categories EU Runway and Vogue Fem.
And for those who want to see Black Pearl live, the performance of Holobiont by Boogaerdt/VanderSchoot on June 13 at Club Raum offers a spectacular opportunity. Holobiont is a five-hour happening where bodies are anything but fixed: a queerrave, a collective ritual, and an anarchic playground all in one. Performers like Black Pearl use their bodies to play with identity, fluidity, and the binary notions of the human form. Nothing stands still, everything moves, shifts, and transforms.
Practical information
The workshop progresses from a warm-up to runway and heels training, followed by choreography and performance. Participants work on posture, movement, and self-expression, with an emphasis on confidence, authenticity, and presence.
Bring an outfit in which you feel powerful. Heels are recommended.
