The last festival under director Pierre Audi saw lots of attention devoted to dance and music. Anne Teresa de Keersmaeker opened the festival with her magnificent Vortex Temporum. Further highlights included Handel’s masterpiece Orlando, conducted by René Jacobs, alongside a video piece by William Kentridge based on Schubert’s Winterreise. The festival featured many big names from theatre: Peter Brook, Simon Stone and Ivo van Hove had new pieces, and Isabella Rossellini was in a jam-packed Stadsschouwburg with a piece about the sex lives of animals.

Welcome!

Welcome to the Holland Festival archive! The history of our festival dates back to 1947. Through the programs of each festival edition we aim to tell this history here. Sadly some information is only available in Dutch but we aim to be as bilingual as possible. For additions or tips send an email to [email protected].
