Archive 1991

1991 saw composer Jan van Vlijmen become the festival’s director and consequently put a heavy focus on music in the programme. Dutch composers like Peter Schat and Theo Loevendie made their premieres, while the festival programme also featured great classics like Mozart’s Die Entführung aus dem Serail by John Eliot Gardener, as well as Luciano Berio’s Un re in ascolto. The nation-themed series was closed by Spain, with a focus on developments in music and dance. The 1991 edition furthermore featured a Jirí Kylián retrospective, a homage to Rudi van Dantzig and the sensational Théâtre du Soleil company from Paris.

Welcome!

Welcome to the Holland Festival archive! The history of our festival dates back to 1947. Through the programs of each festival edition we aim to tell this history here. Sadly some information is only available in Dutch but we aim to be as bilingual as possible. For additions or tips send an email to [email protected].
